Worthy Is the Lord Our God

A Hymn of Praise

Worthy is the Lord our God

Of Glory, Honor, and Pow'r,

Who has made all that is,

And owns the final hour.

Great, O Lord, are all Your deeds,

Just and true Your ways;

For You alone are holy,

The Ancient of Days.

Refrain:

Glory to the Lord our God,

     Glory to the Lamb,

     Glory to the Spirit,

     Glory to His Name.

Worthy is the Lamb of God

Who for us was slain.

Wisdom, strength, and honor,

Glory to his name.

For Jesus purchased by His blood

From every tribe and tongue

A priestly kingdom serving God,

His sacrifice their song.

Repeat Refrain

All will come before His throne

And will in worship bow,

For the kingdoms of the world

Are made His kingdom now.

Hallelujah! For He reigns,

Our God, Almighty Lord!

King of Kings we now acclaim,

The Son of God, the Word.

Repeat Refrain

I wrote this hymn and composed the tune in the early 1980s in the first church in which I was the pastor. The inspiration is the great scenes of worship in Revelation 4 and 5, giving praise to "Him who sits on the throne and unto the Lamb."
